Digital decluttering (1)
Inspired by Tony Morgan and this article, I’m having a digital decluttering session or two.
So far I’ve:
- ditched Flock in favour of a move back to Firefox. Flock was too slow and far too fiddly – I just could not get it to interact with Flickr and Facebook as it is meant to and I wanted it too.
- ditched: Twitter, Bebo, MySpace, MSN Messenger. They add nothing to my life, and only detract !
- set up GMail chat properly (i.e. set my contacts list up to allow me to chat with people I want to chat with).
- streamlined Facebook. And decided I will not be encouraging use of the messaging function in Facebook to contact me. I will respond via my GMail accounts.
- set up Firefox for all my home applications – BBC News, Blogger, Facebook, personal Gmail, Trade Me, You Tube.
- set up Safari for all my work applications – WordPress, professional Gmail, LibraryThing, Google Reader, YouTube.
- set up iGoogle.com homepages on both browsers.
There is still more to do though…
hmmmmm .. i feel like an uber geek and pale in comparison to your web guru status.
how many gmail accounts does a person need?
sheesh. i’m actually envious of your skill base.
